In January of 2026, we welcomed NCA grandparents to spend the morning with their grandchildren at NCA. It was such a special day that began with corporate worship. Our whole community came together to celebrate the marvelous deeds of our sovereign God. When I looked out over the sea of NCA students and their grandparents during chapel, my heart filled with joy. I saw a heritage of faith with generations of Christ-followers committed to Scripture and the gospel of Jesus Christ. I saw the joy of the Lord on so many faces as we worshiped together -- and as our students shared their gifts and talents. I saw the special, unconditional love that grandparents and their grandchildren share; I saw adoring eyes, wide smiles, pure elation and excitement because of the special day together. And, I witnessed a growing school community now occupying our permanent home.
This Year's Changes
Rather than rotating through scheduled activities in family groups, grandparents spent time in their grandchildren’s classrooms from 9:30–11:00 a.m. Some grandparents stayed in one classroom -- others rotated classrooms to visit multiple grandchildren. During this time, teachers led learning experiences that reflected a typical school day at NCA. This approach allowed grandparents to see first-hand what makes a Christ-centered education at NCA distinctive—academically, spiritually, and relationally.
Middle school students followed a modified morning schedule, attending three classes. Grandparents accompanied their grandchildren participated in subject-specific classroom experiences.
A Sense of Overwhelming Gratitude
This family – this biblical community is special – it’s unique. In a world of uncertainty and fear, this is a place of peace and truth. In a world that pursues comfort and ease, this is a place of challenge, academic excellence, growth, and discipleship. And in a world that values earthly success, this is a place of intentional instruction on living in light of eternity. Grandparents Day was a day during which we offered our grandparents the chance to see what makes this school so distinct and asked them to continue building into the NCA community.
We are grateful for the role grandparents play in the lives of our students; we were so honored to share the heart of NCA’s mission with them: partnering with committed Christian parents to provide a Christ-centered education that advances academic excellence, spiritual growth, and servant leadership.
